There are two types of mercenaries players can hire in Bannerlord: Mercenary troops. Minor clans. Both of these are useful depending on the point in the game you might find yourself. If you need quick and decent troops for your army, get the mercenaries. If you are a king in an all-out war, hire a minor clan. I decide which faction I want to help and build workshops in their cities. I become a mercenary of that faction. I can either keep my troops low-ish tier and keep hunting bandits and just playing the game - hunting the bandits will get you a ton of mercenary income as well. But you can also upgrade your units, recruit more and kick lord ass.
The Clan menu also lets you select perks for your companions once they’ve leveled up. Vigor perks – One-handed, Two-handed, Polearms. Control perks – Bows, Crossbows, Throwing. Endurance

Work for a faction and get a settlement as a reward. The easiest way to get your own settlement is to join one of the established kingdoms as a mercenary. Later, you can talk to the leader of the faction after doing a few tasks for them or fighting their enemies, to become one of their vassals. Eventually, your loyalty will be rewarded as your You can recruit mercenary clans as vassals. So you can recruit merc/minor clans as vassals it turns out. Just fight em in war, capture the leader, and in the party tab talk to him. Tell him you'll set him free if he joins you. Give him some money (around 20k), and now they're legitimate vassals who can hold fiefs! a6N8.
